Our Story

Carmine's Creative Italian Cuisine, a family owned and operated restaurant offering fine Italian cuisine created by Chef Carmine, proudly opened in August 2013 on Virginia Avenue.

 


Chef Carmine Schiano Moriello came to the U.S. from Naples in 1983 and served as chef in restaurants around Maryland and New Jersey before deciding to open his own restaurant in his home town of Smithsburg in the Fall of 2009. Prior to opening Carmine's Italian Restaurant, Schiano Moriello was Head Chef at the popular Al Pomodoro restaurant in Hagerstown, MD.

Anthony

Carmine's son. He does pretty much every job, you'll find him waiting tables almost every day and cooking every night. He currently acts as our general manager and media director.  

 

 

 

Rhoda

Carmine's wife. She can be found greeting customers and making sure everyone is having a wonderful time.

 

 

 

Granny (Linda)

Carmine's mother-in-law. She's usually in the back, helping with the prep work or baking cakes.

 

 

 

Nick

Carmine's father-in-law. Sometimes he's here, but usually he's out on an errand for us. He's the legwork of the operation!
